Well, the stereo project is officially under way. It'll be a slow process, but off to a decent start. I'm utilizing the space under my retractable cargo floor. So far I've removed the factory tray that was there, made a new "floor" out of MDF, mounted the amps and CAP (don't yell about wiring, it's being cleaned up tonight :tsk: :rofl: ) . Anyway, there's a link below for the semi-crappy picture I took at 1AM today. The 4-channel at the top of the picture isn't hooked up yet as I still have the project of installing the LC-6 and JL Cleansweep. The only part working right now is the sub, I was getting tired of driving around with no bass. :D

Any suggestions on where to mount the LC-6 or CS? I was thinking along the sides by the spare tire. :dunno:

Yeah it is for now. I had it from a previous install. Are they that bad? :dunno:

It's to the left of the smaller amp (lower left corner in the darkness :D ) If you follow the silver power wires, you can kind of see it.

Nothing wrong with a C.A.P.

But the "slash" amps are stiffly-regulated. They make the same power from anywhere from 11 to 16 volts. That plus the fact that you're 2 feet from the large battery, and I suspect that the cap doesn't help with SQ at all, as it could with loosely-regulated amps.

But it won't hurt anything, and might even help the HU to sound better when the bass hits (or not). I'm glad you didn't make a special purchase, though, since you had bought amps specifically designed to avoid the need for external capacitance.

I am very interested in your project. Do you mount your amp rack on top of your spare tire or you have to take out your spare tire? I have my JL 500/1 mount on the back of the rear seat now and I am look for way to improve the mounting location. I also have a Phoenix Gold capacitor in the set up but I guess after reading Ken's post, I guess I don't really need it now. It looks good with voltage reading thought.

By the way, what wire are you using? I have 4 gauge Streetwire with a circuit breaker and an in-line fuse holder. I just want to make sure that the wire is appropriate enough so I won't burn anything. Thanks.

Not sure if you have the retractable load floor or not. I do have the load floor and underneath there is a tray that covers the spare and gives some additional storage. I took the tray out and used a 1/2" piece of MDF to create a new floor to mount the amps on. With the amps on the floor I have about a 1/2" of space above the amps. As for the wiring, I am using a similiar setup to yours. Ken would be able to verify this, but I was talking with someone who suggested to install a relay on the remote turn-on wire to avoid damage from the amp back feeding. :dunno: I've never had this issue, but if there is something to be concerned with, I want to adress it.

Just need to get the wiring done and figure out the whole door speaker deal....

are certain amps not designed to work w/ C.A.P.'s? :dunno: what exactly does a C.A.P. do? :dunno: I thought they were used to store power for the subs when needed? i didn't know that depending on where they were located, they could affect sound quality.
