Hi,
I think I have the same problem, mine is a 2002 X5, and pulled out the headunit today as per instructions, and there were two plugs fixed in, could not find a block to insert the AUX cable into, phone BMW and they said that my model was too old to use that cable? But they've been incorrect about a few things in the past so relying upon this site to help.

Or can someone suggest the most cost effective way of getting my iPhone to work in my BMW, I already have a cable for sound and video for the iphone (component cable with 2 RCA's and 1 Video cable) would like to use that if possible. Already have it connected to my TV Tuner and its currently only playing things in MONO on the headrests and front nav screen.

Help please.. been looking everywhere and totally lost.

Hey guys, I've searched and searched and can't find an answer to this problem. I've seen one other member have the same problem, but nobody ever answered him. Basically, I'm trying to install an aux input by connecting the pins for the adapter into slots 3, 4, and 10. However, there are already pins in slots 3 and 4. I tried removing those two pins and then inserting the wires from the aux input, but the radio wouldn't turn on when I did this. Any ideas? Instead of having just two wires in the black 12-pin harness, I have four. I have no clue what to do.

mdeep1, did you end up getting aux input to work? I had the same problem, found the input referred to in this thread, i.e. into business cd. I have installed and put back together. Pressed mode with ipod connected but no AUX mode showing?? (I have business CD, no nav, no DSP - 2004 facelift). Anyone else welcome to help too (please)...:dunno:

More info: Attached is the BMW instructions that show the positions of the wires in the connector. They refer to a blue/white, a white/brown and a white/yellow from the new aux input. Unfortunately, the aux input has blue/white, brown/white and red/white. I matched the colours, i.e blue/white(actual aux in) to white/blue in diagram, etc and put the red/white onto where the instructions showed yellow/white.

This connection IS UNDER THE SPARE TIRE in the rear of the car!!! It all depends on getting the right cable. I ended up getting the wrong one, but modified it with the BMW I-Pod cables I took out when I just did the Intravee II install. If you have a Nav or non-nav & find a spare connector coming off one of the 2 main cable bundles going into the radio, you need the Aux that plugs right into that connector...if not, you will be doing the steps above where I mentioned! The instructions are very deceiving wen showing the Aux inlet to be installed in the glovebox as that will be impossible with the length of cable you get after tapping into the connector under the spare tire.

You're a genius, Mozzie. That was *exactly* the problem I was having. I should have taken closer note of the way the pins were arranged in the original plug. Just like you said.

Thanks a ton.
