Hi,
I think I have the same problem, mine is a 2002 X5, and pulled out the headunit today as per instructions, and there were two plugs fixed in, could not find a block to insert the AUX cable into, phone BMW and they said that my model was too old to use that cable? But they've been incorrect about a few things in the past so relying upon this site to help. Or can someone suggest the most cost effective way of getting my iPhone to work in my BMW, I already have a cable for sound and video for the iphone (component cable with 2 RCA's and 1 Video cable) would like to use that if possible. Already have it connected to my TV Tuner and its currently only playing things in MONO on the headrests and front nav screen. Help please.. been looking everywhere and totally lost. |

More info: Attached is the BMW instructions that show the positions of the wires in the connector. They refer to a blue/white, a white/brown and a white/yellow from the new aux input. Unfortunately, the aux input has blue/white, brown/white and red/white. I matched the colours, i.e blue/white(actual aux in) to white/blue in diagram, etc and put the red/white onto where the instructions showed yellow/white. |
Pulling my hair out as this was meant to be simple mod... ARRGGGHHH:banghead:

You're a genius, Mozzie. That was *exactly* the problem I was having. I should have taken closer note of the way the pins were arranged in the original plug. Just like you said. Thanks a ton. |
