Exactly what kind of phone system do you have in your X5? Doesn't sound like any that I am familiar with :dunno:

The Standard Wireless Handset (Siemens) which is the one comes in the E39, E53 and 7 series .. The black phone BMW branded wireless sits in the middle console ..

Do you know it now?

Cheers

Here in the US all of the hard-wired phone systems pre-2004 were based on the Motorola Startac and V60 series phones (CPT7000, CPT8000 and CPT9000). None of those phones meet the current handset standards for the wireless service providers in the United States, and thus you couldn't activate one even if you wanted to. The current standard is to use Bluetooth to integrate service into the vehicle, which gives you the ability to choose from a wide variety of phones.

Sorry, but I'm not familiar with the unit that you are referring to.

UcrewX5 is correct

looking at the year of your vehicle I don't
believe the Seimens phone is compatible.

Heres the current list of compatible phones.

My Friend .. You are refering to a bluetooth phones which i dont have bluetooth in my X5, its 2003 and i think bluetooth started in 2004 models ..

For the Siemens phone, i am not adding it to my car, the car comes already equiped with the Phone Kit and the wireless unit already exist .. i am just replacing the wireless handset because the old one got damaged!

And like any wireless device it has a unique frequency just like the remote control of the car, so the new handset needs to be configured to the original base in the car to have it connected through the same wireless channel and frequency .. did i explain it clearly?

Sorry for the confusion ..

Regards

There is no confusion. You simply cannot use the phone, inside the car or independently, in the USA any longer. This is due to changes in the requirements for digital phones, rather than the older analog phones.

EDITED TO ADD: OOPS! I think the confusion is that you are in Saudi, and not the USA, as I was assuming. I doubt you can use an older analog phone in your area, either, but you should check with your phone carrier to find out.

Ok, again looks there is a confusion or i am not able to explain ..

I have a Phone Kit already built in in my car, The phone using GSM networks and it require a SIM card to be insterted in the BASE unit in the car under the arm rest console, BMW provided the car with a Wireless Handset in case you dont need to use the CAR KIT Loudly, or move around the car and talk using the WIRELESS handset, The SIM card inserted in the Base Unit in the car not into the wireless handset.

The Car kit working perfectly now but without the handset, what i need is to configure the REPLACEMENT handset that i bought to my Original Car kit. There is nothing to do here with Analoge or digital or even the carrier, the new handset keep showing a message "Searching for Base Unit" because its already taken from a different car so it needs to be configuerd with My Car Wireless Frequency.

Hope i managed to explain :)

Cheers!

You did a fine job of explaining the problem.
Speaking for myself I've never heard of your
setup so my suggestion is to call the manufacture
of the Car kit or the Base Unit.

In the USA bluetooth has been in use in BMW's
since 1999.
