My BM54 is the next to the newest P/N. Would it do MP3s with the right CD unit?

Check the firmware version in the hidden menu. Latest firmware is "17 5"

My mistake. My BM53 on the shelf is next to last and my BM54 is second from last. It is P/N 65 12 6 964 400, KW 09/05, EC:178, Index: E NC03.T. The SW shows 41-04 98. I didn't see anything else related to firmware on the service menu. Is there another menu? Guess mine is not as new as I thought.

So the firmware was upgraded on the 41st week of 2004.
