I am extremely disgusted the way x series is treated as step child re material quantity finish and options. Adaptive suspension for 3k;( and sports package just cosmetic gimmick:( I hate that audio power on/ off button borrowed from a trash bottle lid;(

Suggestion: Try playing a 24 bit cd in your system instead of MP3. The difference is dramatic. Remember most popular music today is over processed and mixed so that the artist sounds like they are better than they really are. There is still good audio out there but you have to pick and choose for the real deal.

The general rule is bad recording in garbage sound out. A good system doesn't lie. My 2005
Plays bad music just like it is. If it bad it's bad. If it good it's really really good.

Try Puenta Del Soul from the Dave Grusin Migration CD.
This CD is often used as a reference CD for referencing
Sound systems. I have often had people ask what kind
Of system I have based on how this CD sounds.

I did tweak the EQ using this reference so a good set
Of ears helps. It may be that you will find that once
You figure out how to use what you have you may find
That what you have is more than enough.

Regards B&R

BTW for best results one must use a 24bit CD not a
Download from iTunes ECT.

I have the base audio system in my 07/11 X5 30D LCI. Have replaced door speakers and installed tweets (Morel), under floor woofers (Jehnert), and about to hook up the JL Cleansweep and Arc audio amp. Difference will be night and day.

all hooked up and sounds fantastic.
Waiting for custom bracket to be finalised so that I can put amp and processor into LHS of boot/trunk. For now mounted on a bit of pine and cable tied to cargo hooks.
Will be even better once I get my hands on the JL cleansweep calibration CD.

Barney, just did the same in my X. All I can say is wow. You never realize just how crappy the stock system is until you replace it. Click the link for details.

agree, hearing my music now brings a smile to my dial. Also self installed, total cost <$2K.

Roadkill 09-27-2012 11:50 PM

Unfortunately I don't have the install skills that you do. However, I'm am very pleased with the outcome and I have lifetime tuning and tweaks. Turn it up.

install was simple really, plug n play for the most part, thanks to the excellent kit from musicar northwest. Door trim removal, seat removal, no great issues.
Fab a bracket to mount cleansweep and amp.
Will have to do a write up.
