HUGE Navigation problem!!! Not the same old same old

Hello all, I upgraded my MKIII Navigation software up to version 24 from 17, and ever since, the sattellite doesn't track me. The software loaded fine, and it's up and running.

The sattellite shows that I'm in a city about 15 miles away, and when i go into the hidden menu, I get 0 signal, and it says searching for sattellite.

I've gone back down to software version 18, but it still thinks I'm not where I am.

Does anyone know what this could be? I'm so bummed! I just got this car!

Thanks!

Let the vehicle sit running in an open parking lot for 20 minutes and it should reacquire its bearings.

ok, just got back from an 20-25 minutes in a wide open parking lot with a clear view of the skies (car running)....still doesn't work. Do you have any other ideas?

I'm guessing, but a cold boot might be worth a try...

ie. disconnect your battery, leave for 2-3 minutes and then reconnect.

rgds,
Seedar.

Seedar, thanks for the help. I've already tried that, I left it disconnected for about 15 minutes, and it still isn't working....I'll try waiting in a lot with it running for a longer period of time, I guess...

Just got back from 45 minutes to an hour in a parking lot, didn't work. By accessing the hidden menu, the GPS sensor says receiver error, does anyone have ideas?

CHeck the back of the nav drive to be sure the GPS antenna cable is plugged in securely.

If so, here's some other thoughts....

- GPS antenna may have gone bad
- cable problem between GPS antenna and nav drive
- Nav drive has gone bad

If someone is around you with a MkIII or MkIV, try swapping units to see if the problem goes away.

ubelieveably enough, the fix for this was to delete my previous destinations. I didn't think it would work...but I'm driving on the highway today, 24 hours after I deleted the previous destinations...and it starts giving me directions, then it updates, and all is right!

What the hell was that!! haa, but I'm so happy it's fixed!

Thanks all,

So... the non-upgradable section of the Nav system software can corrupt the upgradable section and the GPS receiver?

Damn, that's new.

being a computer guy, the only thing I can think of is that somehow the previous destinations referenced the old code. I'm not sure how this would have gone so long without someone besides me noticing!

Funny that I get hit with the rare bug, but someone's gotta go through it I guess.....

:thumbup::rofl:
