Well the highest you can to on a mk3 is SW 3-1/63 And thats version 23-28 i think. I just did the upgrade it was very eazy worked like a dream. You will need some good quality cds and download the Mk3 V-23+ and then download clone cd and alco 120% and could somebody post this man the link to the instructions and a link to the downloads because i know it was hard to find when i was doing the upgrade.

thanks

Thanks, that was hepful. So I can't go to the MK4, we must stay in MK3.

Thanks!

Welcome Apple!

You can upgrade the nav computer to the DVD-based MK4 if you want, it is a simple (but expensive) plug and play swap.

Willy has you covered on the upgrade for MK3 if you decide to stay with that. And it should remove the accept screen and will probably change to euro measurements... 'feet' will change to 'yards'.

Yeh i would only change them if you have alot of money or you really want perspective gps. MkIII is good enough i think

GOTCHA! Don't want to spend much money, will look further into the MK3..

THANKS!

When i did the update i found some good sites that tell you alot of good info about the MkIII. The MKIII got its last update at V23 and then after that it didnt get any updates so from V23-V28 there is no difference but i would get V26 if u can.

Here is a link to the info about V26 and it has download links as well

Thanks Willy & NCX... A friend offered to lend me his DVD for his Mk4, does this make my upgrade simpler, can I use it at all for my 2002 MK3?

Nope, sorry. Your MK3 will not read DVD map discs. It will only accept CD map discs. However, the MK4 can read DVD map discs as well as older CD nav map discs.

Don't confuse a hardware upgrade from a software upgrade. Going from a Mk3 to a Mk4 is a hardware upgrade (plug-n-play). Upgrading the OS is a software change.
