Correct dest guidance not possible?

I have read about this here in the forum and I have the same problem.
It was the same with my MK3 navi, as it is with my new MK4 navi.
It seams like the problem are in the software because I can se the roads on the map and my position , but I got no guidance eather with voice or by arrows.
Here is a lot of clever people in this forum who can change logos and ad speed cameras. So please solv this problem because BMW is not listen to us customer

Hi,

your guidance don't work if you got no correct GPS posiition.
That meens, at in the Globe in the richt upper corner you have to see 3 green points if the are not there, than the Guidance is not working.

Pulare.

I have the same problem in Sweden and its when you are driving om the grey colored roads you get this message right? The roads are there but they dont have any name (dirtroads) so I guess its the way it is :thumbdown

On my Mk3 I also get the same message when driving in southern Sweden off the main roads. Even on roads with names on.Same size roads in Denmark does not give the message, so I think it's a map software question. I'm using a Scandinavia 2005 CD and nav is updated to latest Mk3 version.

It´s no dirt road´s it´s inside a small village and on the major road´s in the village it show everything okey. So it is a restriction in the software from BMW. It´s no problem with the GPS antenna because it is showing my position the whole time I am driving. As I was reading in an earlier post here on X5 forum it was not like this with MK1 navigators.

I have been out and driving in my village now and I can se the road name´s on the navi even when the navi coulden´t guide me. As long as I´m driving on the yellow marked roads it guides when I´m leaving the yellow roads it stops guiding me.

make hard reset unit, if not be better downgrade to v27 , reset again and try it

That does not help. The problem is that there have been added a sort of a limit of guiding in the software by BMW or maybe it could be on the map disc by Navteq.

minorsetbacks 01-10-2007 03:09 AM

Navteq uses software that estimates address numbering and places various information points on a roadway. The navigation computer uses these points and further estimates the addresses in between the known points. If the Navteq software failed to place these points on a digitalized road, the road will appear and it will show you driving on it, but the unit cannot interoperate address information since the reference points do not exist
