Just a quick question is there a difference between a British Miles and the American Mile?

From what I can tell there isn't, but I changed my region to Euro to get rid of the "Accpet" screen and my average MPG now reads high, and yes I reset it when I get gas.

I know a nautical mile is 1852 meters and a statute mile 1609 meters.

Yeah.. I got that from Wikipedia, but in order for it to be the root cause of my issue the British mile would need to be smaller than the US one. Does anyone know if there is a way to change the multiplication factor that is used to calculate the MPG? I know that with E36 OBCs there was a special menu you could go in to.

The problem is imperial gallons versus US gallons. This has happened to a few folks when they did an OS downgrade/upgrade. I had it happen to me a while ago, and I noticed that my OBC was showing gas mileage that was about 4 MPG higher than normal.

Try this... pull the fuses for the Instrument Cluster for about 2 minutes. Afterward, my OBC mileage dropped by 4 MPG to what I was used to seeing. It was an instantaneous drop, as if it immediately recalculated the numbers. The E38 fuses are 18, 23, 26, and 41, all 5A fuses under the hood. I am not sure what the comperable X5 fuses are.

Yes, it's test 20 and it says KVBR with a value of 1000.
To get this test 20 and some others you have to enter the unlock code which is the sum of the numbers in test 1: FGSTNR LV12345
In this emample the code would be 15.
How to calculate the KVBR?
I've seen the formula some years ago for an E36 so it should be somewhere on the web....

Just found this 1 for an E34: new_correction_factor = old_correction_factor * actual_mpg / obc_mpg

WOW! That makes even better since than the mileage difference. I pulled the fuses this morning, and drove the car around the city most of the day. It now reads about 20.3 which is more along the lines of the actual mileage..

Thanks for the info....

Edit: OK, confirmed that resolved the issue. I never thought I would be happy to see sub 20 MPG.

Where is Jochen ?

Hi, i have been trying to get a hold of him using private messages and email to navcoder address, and his private emails.

Has anyone heard from him in the past week ?

Thank you

I guess he must be busy, his various posts from different locations around the world suggest he's an active guy. I PM'd him a few days ago with a question about NavCoder, he'll probably reply when he has the time.
