As far as I understand this instruction (above) is for inserting cameras into map, but without voice (or message) warning, correct?

Scuba 07-10-2008 02:13 AM

And one more question: in some maps there is no folder TPD (only files like abstract, carindb, bibliogr, carinet and copyright)..... But at the same time some POIs are exists.... What is for such maps?

I depends on what map disc you have and what system you have.

Some systems (like the mk3) use the carindb as this holds all the POI info and the system uses that file for all nav functions, however some systems will use the files in the TPD folder if they exsist (e46,e39 with a mk4 etc).

If you you use a map disc the has no TPD folder in the mk4 then I doubt that you could "add" your own POI's, just a thought.

This is what I want to try - add this folder (from another map) and see what will happens.... The question is - will navi see both places where POIs are (carindb and TBD folder) or only one

P.S.: I have MK4

Mk4 and later can read the \TPD\ directory (TPD = third party data)

Mk3 can only read embedded POI info in the carindb file

Therefore adding extra POIs is only possible on Mk4 and later systems.

Unless you work for VDO and can compile a new carindb file :-)

Kiwi, If MK4 reads TPD for me it is not necessary to compile carindb 'cause I have MK4;) ...... My question is - I have the map, on the disk there is no TPD folder but some POIs are exists..... now for me it's clear that they are implemented (somehow) into carindb file. But if I add modified TPD folder will navi reads both POIs (carindb and TPD) or only from one source.....

But I would not mind as well to know how to compile carindb..... but not for POI;)

It will read only from one source: carindb or TPD, but not both
