Enable 2D maps on pre-LCI E60
 

Hi, I am new to this forum and i don't have an X5 but i see you guys are the best in terms of BMW navigation. I hope you can help me with this issue.

I have a 5 Series saloon (e60) manufactured on 02/2007 , a pre-LCI.
The car has factory fitted Business Nav which at the time had only ARROW VIEW. I saw that the LCI 5 series manufactured after march 2007 has 2D map display as standard for Business NAV.

My question is: Can i upgrade somehow my nav system in order to enable the 2D map display?

I have to mention that i checked with my dealer and he has no idea if this is posible or not. I was the first one to ask them.

Any help is highly appreciated.

You need to fit new CCC computer I think.

I understood from other forums that the CCC is the same for pre-LCI and LCI models. Can anybody confirm this?

Well...

The pre-LCI 1er with business navigation (ie. just arrows) can be upgraded with a software recode to enable maps to be viewed as well. This can't be done by the user and takes about five hours to do at the dealer.

I'm assuming that the pre-LCI 5er will be able to be upgraded in the same way. There is only one way to know for sure - take your car in for an update.

Hmmmm. Can anyone else confirm as the lci models have different hardware.

The latest radio/ccc units now have the favourites buttons on the front.

It seams that the upgrade can be done only with the map disc.Can anybody confirm this? Does anybody have the Business 2008-1 Europe nav DVD? My dealer claims that the latest one is 2007-2 for the Business Version which i have and it does not enable any 2D maps view.

Do the arrow vs. 2d, use same map disk?

They use different map discs with very different file format and file structure.

But using same hardware?

I talked to my dealer yesterday about this, he claimed that same map DVD wil work on Pre LCI and LCI E60.
He eaven showed me what was suppose to be new maps.
This new DVD had 5-6 files on it, while oldone had only 2
and it did work, however no 2d map on pre LCI. SA said that they did change harware, but he was not shure whitch part was changed
