Nav/TV question
Does anyone have the BMW part number for the cable that connectrs the TV module with the Nav computer? My particular app is adding TV to my 2001 740iL. Car has Nav (MK IV), CD, BM53, Sirius, wide screen, bluetooth (TCU) Voice. I have located some articles on 'make your own' but if BMW has a ready-made one, I would prefer that.
Any help is appreciated. |
Years ago purchased an inbetween NAV/TV Module cable for my E46. It had input / output video / audio. The audio input and output was not stereo (mono). They still sell they "ready made" on Ebay. When you buy the OEM cable it doesn't really have inputs / outputs and you would have to adjust same cable for your own use. I use the setup with my CarPC. It works OK. In this car I have all separates - TV Module, AUX module and IBUS module. Not optimal for a CarPC but more for an analogue video connection (like a DVD player-rear camera setup).

I think this guy is looking for a way to retrofit a tv tuner. The lead you suggest would let him add an aftermarket tv tuner, but then you wouldn't be able to use the buttons on the HU to control it (would be a remote and remote eye setup) |
I think it is the 219 cable which I used for the new type VM when I went from MKI to MKIII/IV. I will look up the exact number which I used.

^^ this is the one I bought, it's cheaper than the dealer too.

I have an OEM BMW analogue tuner in my E46. The cable that fits between the TV tuner and the NAV module lets me add aux video. I can see this as a choice on my TV HU display. I use the "second" video input using the backup camera lead on the loom for my CarPC. So the OEM BMW tuner gives you the choice of two Video Inputs. The loom I purchased has two video inputs, audio input and brake light switch (to ground). I guess this is a modified from standard loom though.

The part # is: 61120144096. You can get it from getbmwparts.com OEM at $85.

That P/N lists for e39 and e46. I used 61 12 8 381 219 for my e38. Maybe they are interchangeable. Might check before you order one.

So curious about the difference between the two cables.
1 - stock BMW OEM cable is just a simple cable which fits between the BMW TV tuner and NAV unit link shown above. This would only serve as a simple interconnect between the NAV and OEM TV tuner. 2 - modified from stock BMW OEM cable with the analogue connectors already attached. (which is the one I am using in my E46). In my "old" E83 setup with the Gnet video module the cables to the NAV went to the video module and the video module had a second harness going into the NAV. My new video module has a similar set of cables but in addition has an IBUS interface but is using a VGA input and passthru. The RGB video is very tweaked in that it "appears" to have a higher resolution than the analogue video input on the E46 OEM TV tuner input. I found the cable that I am currently using in the E46. ToysInYourCar.com - AV Input/Output Lead Theoretically can I still add a newer digital tuner (smaller) to the same setup (old IBUS) on my E83? |
