Do you have any aditional equipment in the system such as an Aux input and do you have the HK audio?

EDIT: And do you have the TV tuner and does it have any volume issues or does it operate at the same level as CD, FM and tape?

I do have the HK Audio I believe (I am not near the car at the moment). I do not have TV tuner or aux input.

I had a Dension Ice-Link with iPod for many years (replacing CD Changer), then went back to CD Changer for a while, and have recently installed iPod/Intravee/Alpine KCA-420i set-up (also replacing CD Changer).

I have never had any audio issues with any of the above, other than the Nav. volume - which had the same problem with all three set-ups

Hmm, It's really difficult to narrow it down to either the nav or the BM53. I would suggest running a search as there is only 1 fault, it could be the nav, but as both units are really expensive to replace on a whim, a search might help as they are free.

I certainly dont care enough to replace either unit, as all other functionality is ok. Can you explain further what you mean by "running a search"

It yeilds threads like this , this and this whan you search for +nav +volume. I gave up at page 5 of the results as there are lots of ideas there.

It is possible that you have a flaky event with the nav OS. I would try downgrading to an earlier version of the nav OS, then re-upgrade to a known good, original copy of the latest release CD. Then see if this has any affect on the nav volume behavior.

SOLVED! - When all else fails - read the instructions!

Who would have thought that a "setting" called "Nav Volume" actually has no impact on the Nav Volume!!!! - but that it just affects the volume of all other audio sources in relation to the Nav Volume when the Nav. System is giving an instruction.

Nav volume is set by adjusting the "Nav min" and "Nav max" settings between -9 and +9 accessed by pressing the "Info" button on the top right of the display, and then adjusting the "Nav-min" option.

Could they have made this less intuitive???

Hi all can someone shed some light on the nav-min option. I understand its function (it's controls the level of cd/radio mute when navigation instructions are given ie fully mute radio/no mute or partial mute on a 1-9 scale.

I don't have this option on my 2005 e53. Why?..

Also on my old 1998 e39 I upgraded all nav to mk4,bm54,16:9 screen etc. I did have nav-min option. But after I used nav coder. I did notice a moth or two later that option had gone and never managed to recover it.

Some explanation on what system nav-min is avail on would be great
