Nav Screen Dying...REPAIR OR REPLACE?
Hey Friends,
2005 X5 E53 4.8is. Nav Screen has lost all color and is starting to develop random lines of dead pixels. Please tell me what you guys do to address this situation. 2 main questions: * Can you replace JUST the screen or do you have to replace the entire in-dash unit? * Is there a BETTER UNIT OUT THERE that is integrated with the E53 that can do the minimum of the same things this one can do (controlled by steering wheel / bluetooth / sat nav DVD / etc)? Thank you guys so much for your wisdom. You have saved my bacon more than once. |
there was a thread somewhere here about a replacement LCD screen that is a direct part for the OE screen... I think it was a Sharp model, but there are couple screens that come up in the searches, one is good part, the other one is not correct one... I am doing a search for the Sharp, if I find it before someone else, I will post a link...
No other aftermarket unit can do the same things as the OE headunit, but folks have used other headunits (lost some OE functions but gained a lot of other ones)... you are in Orlando - I was just checking out the hotels for this spring break for my kids to take them to the Disney... Is it a good idea to go to Orland at the end of March, beginning of April? how is the weather there? |

Thanks for the link man.
Weather here is AWESOME bro: highs in the 80's / lows in the 60's = perfect :) |
