Is it the worst? I think it's possible. It's honestly one of the best prices I could find.

Wow, where are you located? if it's NY or NJ i can put you in touch with my agent (assuming that you're just with a shitty company and it's not your driving record causing that premium)... yikes.

hey - Michigan. Not really anything wrong with my driving record (one ticket for imporper passing about two years ago). I think the fact that I'm the only one on the policy and don't have any other items on it might be the reason. Oh, and the fact that I'm 19 and drive a black BMW.

05 BMW X5

Allstate
$574.18/6 mo
$250 collision/$100 comp deductibles

2 cars & house, and umbrella, on same policy.

NOTE: You just saved me money! I didn't realize that somewhere along the line, my deductibles were dropped that low. I called my agent, and immediately changed them to $500, with a $50 decrease in premium/6 mo.

2003 X5 3.0

Mandatory monopolistic government insurance provider

$2800 CDN/yr net after 40% safe driver discount (18 years no claims)
$1000 collision deductible
$250 glass and comprehensive deductible
$3 million liability limit

No elevated theft risk, all vehicles are garaged.

No deductions for 4 vehicles, they are all similar to this, except the Toyota for the 18 year old, which only has a 10% discount and thus costs $3200 per year with the same deductibles.

There are a lot of cheap insurance rates listed in this thread.

Barry,

I should rephrase that.. a relatively useless poll...

It's almost like saying there are 2 guys. One can run a 5 min mile and the other can run a 10 min mile.. well it's kinda important to know that the faster guy weighs 150 and is 21 while the guy running a 10 min is 60 years old and weight 250 lbs... it's all in the details.. without them, you're shooting blanks in the dark.

Doc, the general rule of thumb is to keep you collision deductible high $500-$1000 is good, and comprehensive low. Reason being is the comp for Allstate covers glass, cracked rims, and vandalism. Knock on wood but the chances of a comp claim is much higher than a collision so you want to keep that low. You don't want to have to replace a windshield and pay $500 out of pocket while the windshield cost $900. That $50 that you're paying less a month savings is not going to come out to much. Also note that allstate says unless you have excessive (4-6 claims a year) it will not affect the price of your insurance policy.
