GM counting on high-speed Internet services in car to drive profits

Seriously; Is this feature a necessity? With all the distracted driving going on why add one more thing,?

While I struggle with mere connectivity due to my remote rural Island, I read of BMWs as WiFi Hot Spots in Europe, capable of eight simultaneous HS connections.

The cheapest option is $5 for 250mb a month. That's an absolute rip for data. Only idiots will be subscribing to these things. 5gig for $50 a month? What exactly is point? Connecting devices such as tablets? Just tether your phone and save the $50 a month.

Everyone knows it's the kids who decide what vehicle a family will buy, just look at how most vehicle commercials cater to children. Kids will tell parents to buy it.

Me too.

I guess that's why the car ads on TV offend me.

The first ad that offended me was the one with Howie Long and the little girl who tells him she wants the GM SUV because it has a "big girl seat" (built in rear child seat).

Nissan, Toyota and Subaru are going "full on" with their ads convincing children (under 12 yrs old) that they NEED to be seen in their SUVs and sedans.

I find it offensive.

I can see disliking or thinking the commercial is stupid, but offended? Why does it offend you?

It's offensive because the ads contain ZERO content in reference to the vehicle.

Stupification of the American consumer in the finest form.

Very rarely do I see ads that actually give factual information about the product. It's the whole chicken and the egg scenario. Does the lack of immediately available factual information create a dumb public, or does a dumb public lower the need for factual advertisement?

I say let them eat cake. I don't put much stock into advertising, nor the people who fall pray to it.
