I actually like, and use the correct expression:
"I could not care less"... Some of my less than faves: -"You know what I mean (I'm saying)" -Relaying a conversation: "So, he saysto me..." (weird use of wrong tense) -"photo journalist" title for the talking head "news reporter" giving some jive story from "the street". biz expressions beat to death: -"he/she gave it a 110 %" -"I'm efforting that right now." -"going forward" -"accretive value" when justifying why a company just bought another losing company. -the majority of biz buzz bs expressions used by the people on the CNBCs of the media; the CEOs won't say crap with a mouthful, the "analysts" have a motive and, the "talent" could barely read a Balance sheet, imo. Just off the top of my mind...I'll think of more. Pretty good thread, imo. BR,md

OK - you got me on that one, but I still think it's way over-used...

yeah.. if I go into another meeting to talk about "synergies" I'm gonna say synergy this muthafer...
other phrases people with no public speaking experience often use that drives me crazy... "with that said" "moving forward" "with all due respect" "let's see" |

how about "at the end of the day...."
one of the most irritating things to say is when people say "Can I ask you a question?" kind of a moot point ain't it?

One that is used regularly here at my work is "We can CIRCLE BACK and figure this out at another time".... or "I'll circle back with you on this".... oh god, enough with the stupid phrases already!

It's funny ,I was just thinking about this the other day and the phrase that tops my list as being way over used is "Think outside the box"
Everytime I hear it I immediately knock about 50 points off the IQ score of whoever said it.
