Over used phrases drive me nuts

If i hear the words BREAKING NEWS come from my TV set one more time. it's out the window it goes. Trust me is another one, followed closely by the term bipartisant, "I think" drives me nut also. Who cares what someone thinks. Tell me what you believe. Besides it's dangerous to believe everything i think. anyway. There's another one right on the tip of my tounge, oh yeah "cautiously optimistic" is another one. "BRAKING NEWS" is the one that gives me fits. arggggggg I know it's gonna happen again and i am seriously thinking of calling KTVU Channel 2 and complaining. Whew........ Had to get that off my chest. Thanks for listening

Yeah. Is there a phrase for people who can't spell?

Barry, not to sound elitist here, but when you reach your threshold for overused phrases, you confirm your status as an intelligent person. Most people are just not with it, man. Broadcasters do focus groups and research all the time to see how they're doing with getting their message across.

The radio station I most recently worked for, was called Z104. We did a focus group last summer about our new morning show, hosted by a guy named Mathew and a girl named Whitney. Over and over again, we heard alarm from the participants: "what? Billy Bush is gone? What happened to Billy and Janet? Did the Bush League go away?".

Billy Bush left our station in early 2003 for his current gig on Access Hollywood

One that I can't stand and it seems like EVERYONE is using these days is during a conversation - in person or on the phone - with someone and they repeat something they just said previously........

"Like I said............."

Why say it 3 or 4 times in a matter of 4 or 5 minutes. It's a waste of time and makes the conversations last longer than they have to be. I do real estate appraisal and I'll be getting directions to someone's house and I'm writing as they tell me, then they say........."it's not too hard to find..."
I say something like, "OK......I'll see you at 10:30......"
and they say, "Like I said, it's just 2 miles from the red light.........."

GEEZ!!!!!! I GOT IT!!!!!!

I could care less...

When I hear this one, I like to ask - how much less?

How often do people use the word (actually non-word) "proactive" where you work? I'm getting a little sick of hearing that one...
