TECN1K is on a distinguished road
Work Travel

I'm Corporate IT - Travel constantly. Time away from the cars bums me out, these rentals aren't cutting it. Another Hybrid Malibu this time, I'm thrilled. I always find myself far from home during the holidays.. Makes it tough to do any last minute shopping, and I guarantee you that I'll be in a Planes, Trains & Automobiles situation next Thursday.

So this has become a tradition now - I present you guys with my snapped off a random branch at work-corporate logo coffee mug-ornament stolen from the hotel lobby-charlie brown-Christmas Tree.

Happy Holidays Everyone!

Good Holidays Spirit, TECN1K!

Long time ago, in a far away life/woikin career, I spent many a holiday weekend, (25 years worth), somewhere else, inc T'Day, Xmas, Hanukkah, Easter, Passover, Yom Kippur, Shavuot, Rosh Hashanah, and many Kidz birthdays, anniversaries, et al. Just a lot of time...

I put blinders on mentally, and just sucked it up, but we are all human and a product of our culture, so it tends to gnaw at one, subconsciously, no matter how we deal with it on the Pollyanna surface, imo.

No lecture intended; we all do what we have to/like to do, but having turned in carrying the bag back in 2000, my only regret is the time spent and the time(s) lost, chasing those tasks, even though they allowed me to bail at 53.

I like your tree/home away from home 'scene', and I empathize, and your post exudes good spirit and positivism. Get Home and enjoy your Fam. It is all we really have, in the end.
GL, mD
