Forum noob, former BMW tech, and a hot rod guy....

Figured I'd make an intro thread, figured the lounge was the place to make it.

I was a BMW tech in NC for about 9 years, got sick of the dealership politics and moved on to emergency services.....can't beat the job security. Loved working on BMW's though, and also loved the way BMW treated their dealership level employees. Dealership life is a whole story on its own, and I might be persuaded to share if asked. I started around the time the E65's were hitting the dealerships (2001), and left BMW when the F10's were hitting the lots (2009). I loved working on anything from E34 to about the E53.....everything else was starting to take the fun out of it.

Anyways, just sold my last toy to get a decent DD that was AWD or 4WD.....and I scored this incredibly clean 2006 E53 4.8is. Black vehicles normally aren't my thing, but this thing has all the options I wanted (besides the 4.8, has Nav and black leather) and is clean as a whistle. With only 63k, it was a no brainer for the price.

The garage toy I sold was my 2003 C5 Z06. Loved this thing, but with the mods I had on it....the next phases involved a ton more cash. I figured I'd let someone else enjoy it as it was, I'll get another one later. Still had the stock shortblock minus the cam, with complete bolt-ons and a Vortech T-trim with meth. It made 725rwhp on 9-10psi, and was an absolute blast to drive. Its always fun knowing you could handle street bikes under a liter also.

I'm also no stranger to quick SUV's, as I've owned 2 different Trailerblazer SS's. The last was this blue one, which was a one-owner with only 50k. It was completely stock when I got it, but I had done a few mods and lowered it (properly) to get a nice sporty stance. On this blue one and my other white one, I removed the spare tire under the back for the best mod of all.....real train horns.

Welcome aboard.

I'm sure your inbox will get lots of "how to" hits, seeing the time you spent as a BMW tech.

Thanks folks. I know forums are a dying breed these days, not sure how active this one really is. Not that I was expecting a party at my noob thread or anything. It looks like most activity is in the specific chassis forums.

I've been giving ECS Tuning some of my money to start with, I am taking out the BMW iPod interface and installing an aux port, since I am an Android guy. I've also installed ECS's gloss black kidneys, and put the tinted roundel covers on the front and rear emblems. Also just had the front windows tinted to match the rear factory at 35%. I'm now debating on PlastiDip'ing the wheels....
