"No, you had my mother."

I've been doing the adjunct professor gig for 20 years, teaching one night per week, one or two courses per year (in addition to my day job). I'm taking attendance on the first night of this semester, when I recognize a familiar last name, belonging to a fairly attractive female in the 19 to 22 age bracket. I make inquiry:

Q: Your last name is familiar. Did I have you in class before?

A: No, you had my mother.

I laughed so hard, I nearly peed myself. At that point, the student tries to recover by stammering something about her mother taking college classes recently, later in life. Too late. I'm officially long in the tooth at age 47.

Soon, I'll be hearing: "No, you had my grandmother."

Too funny! That is such a special moment when something like that happens. Some friends and I were at a restaurant we are "regs" at and the cute 19 year old waitress my friend is flirting with tells him that her mom knows him... from dating him back in high school.

In any event, at least you have some eye candy in your class. Let's see if she brings you an apple to polish.
