I have Vonage and an ADT alarm, no problem. All my Internet and system components (router, modem, computer, Vonage phone adaptor, printer) are on a UPS so no problem is the power goes off.

Basically you clip the tone generator on the phone line in the house, and then take the tester to where the wires are at the telco demarc, and touch them with the tester, if it makes a noise, you found your line.

The only problem is that your ADT alarm can't grab exclusive use of the phone line when you have VOIP, so if you're on the phone and the alarm decides to call the central office, it won't be able to.

I have had AT&T Call Vantage VOIP since 10/04 running on Time Warner Premium Road Runner and it has been about flawless. It works perfectly with 911 and my alarm, and seizes the line as it should. I wired it directly to my phone distro panel.

My friend has VOIP.NET and has had a lot of issues.

Edit, forgot to add that we have the VOIP TA, the cable modem, my routers, and the alarm on 2 APC UPS's. The alarm has its on battery powered cell backup, just in case VOIP gets hosed. But so far it has been rock solid.

I've had Vonage for 6 months, works perfectly with my Brinks alarm. The tech hooked up the alarm in such a way that all the phone jacks in my house work, I can even plug in my DirecTV receiver so that it makes its daily call. I also have an emergency backup power system from Banner Power.

My future mrs. calls Poland at least twice a week- no trouble at all with Vonage.

A number of months ago, I heard that there was a problem with 911 - that you couldn't dial it. Did they "fix" that?
