i use both... its decent... sometimes it feels like its full broadband speed, other times it feels like dialup... depends on how much coverage you have... ie: desert vs city...

I have verizon and it depends on coverage. I have had good experience. I have heard Cingualr users complain in my area. Depends on your area.

Just picked up the Cingular Sierra Wireless Aircard 860. It's 3G/Edge/UMTS compatible. It's actually not bad speed wise here... will definitely try it out more when I travel to Boston tomorrow.. Wonder if it's fast enough to work with my Slingbox software.. Thanks guys!

VZ EDVO is pretty good in bigger cities. In the smaller ones, seems like 28.8 modem. Product is still evolving though, will get better over time. VZ does have a very wide coverage area, and its reliability is top notch.

Don't think it'll work with the Slingbox. Coverage is spotty in general. I've got a Verizon card and sometimes it works great and other times it doesn't work for sh@! in the same location. Must be the weather.

I have Cingular EDGE on my Blackberry 8700, which is very fast when excluding images. For your application though (accessing internet on your laptop), I think Verizon EVDO is supposed to be twice as fast and better for you. In some areas Cingular is rolling out the HSPDA/UMTS network which is even faster. Might be worth checking into. Good luck!
