Who here has a housekeeper

OT Fellas

I've got no time these days......
Been seriously thinking about hiring a housekeeper- 2 or 3 days a week.
I just need to be comfortable with someone dealing with my schiet.

Maybe I can hire one that will wash the X weekly also ;-)

We've had one for years. She sometimes "leaves a lot to be desired of" in the cleaning department, but she's as honest as the day is long, and a really nice, sweet woman who helps us out in many ways (dogs, kids, helped us pack for the move this past week... ). The fact that we can trust her outweighs the occasional "Have you seen your son's room? I am NOT going in there" occurrence. (lol)

I'd ask around with your neighbors. Our number one priority was (still is) to have someone we knew we could leave the house and not worry about theft. Your neighbors or friends will probably be your best resource for your research.

We have a housekeeper that comes 1-2 times per month for the real cleaning. As for gernal pick up in the house, we try to put things back where we got them after each use.

Same here we have one that comes every other week. Invaluable!

I'm curious how much you guys pay for your housekeeper. Mine comes every 2 weeks and I pay her $95 each time. What are you guys paying?

Ours comes at least once a week, sometimes twice. It's usually $100 for a "complete" house cleaning.

I have a house keeper, comes every Friday, She saves the day in more ways then I could count. With myself and my wife in our respective professions, we have no time to clean etc. 3 kids as well.

Depends on the size of the house, carpet etc. My neighbor uses her as well and we have the same size house 4000 Sq in Long Island , NY - but I have all hardwood floors literally in a colonial and I pay 80. My neighbor has all carpet and he pays 90.

I have a lady working 30+ hours a week last 2 1/2 years. Prior to that I had bad experience using an agency. They were chaging initiation charge per the worker, and switching them around to make more money for them.
Just for cleaning every other week or so good agency migh be good idea, since they are bonded and insured. I get to write off good potion of her wages, and she is legal alien, even though I will never run for congress. I will never trade her! It really depends on what you needs are.

Ours comes once every two weeks, and she knocks it all out in 2-2&1/2 hours, but our place is not that big. I pay her $85 and she cleans 3 bathrooms, 2 bedrooms, the kitchen, dining room, family room, den and foyer and she vacuums all the stairs and takes out all the trash.

References are key to hiring a housekeeper. Still, don't expect that a housekeeper will do the same type of detailed job that you might do.
