I think exposing kids to guns is the best way.
i grew up in england where gun control is perfect. But that is not to say that i was not exposed to rifles (mostly wwII 303 , but also sub machine guns).. Anyways my point is that if u're exposed to guns as a youth in a proper environment u learn how to use them, u learn safety principles , and u also learn to respect the destructive nature these weapons can do.

To this day i do not own a gun of any nature but that is my choice. i respect that living in the usa comes with a diferent attitude towards ownership of weapons.

Somebody mentionned that the parent of this child was acting irresponsibly... i totatlly disagree ... it seems to me the child is learning to respect the devasting nature of these weapons in a fun and controlled environment... the child also appears to be wearing goggles and ear protection.... Can the poster of the thread please give me some info on this event so i can go next year with my family

I would agree that exposing kids to guns is not a bad idea. I strongly believe that the shooting exercices I did during my military service helped me to understand and respect the power of a guns. However, I would wait for a kid to be a teenager and would do it in a totally different way than shown on this video. I would have them shooting at a target rather than this type of massive destruction. You are talking about a fun environment and that bothers me. There is nothing fun about the power of destruction of these weapons and kids must understand that.

I think the point of the video for most of us is that it's funny... and the reason it's funny is because it's so extreme. It's one thing taking your 12-yr-old to a range and teaching him/her how to shoot a rifle, pistol, etc. But it's a little scary seeing a 5-yr-old squeeze-off a hundred .50 cal rounds sawing through cars...
But Soccerjunky extrapolated perfectly from what my point was... whether you're OK with guns, or morally opposed to them aside, properly supervised exposure to guns (even as extreme and this!!) will not create a propensity to go on a shooting spree.
