Ferrari running costs - Page 2

HI

I have a 348 Speciale and a 308 GT4. (along with the X and the motorbikes)

The GT4 I do myself so no real costs there.

I am in the UK so all following in GBP.
The 348 costs about £1300 every 2 years for a full belt service and just an oil change in between. I do not do many miles in it say 5000 per year. It is an engine out service for the 348. Looking it up belts only is about half for a 360 therefore I would think not an engine out jobby. But I do not know somone above has already said it is so probably know better but I do not know why it is so cheap? (relatively)

all three cars have to have engine out for a major service and the guide line from ferrari is 22 hours labour.

the engine out service is pricey at almost $20K for the 355's. F1 pumps, $18K.. so just because you can pay for the car doesn't mean you can afford to own and service it. The 360's and 430's are much cheaper to maintain now with Belt Services only running about $3K-$5K but bottom line, it's not about the cost of the car..

I find car service is really asking, "How good is your dealer?" and "How near is the dealer to me?"

With buying any car, I find my main criteria is "What kind if driving will I be doing?" Of course, if you can afford a whole stable of cars, each to suit a different mood, go for it and good luck!

$20k for a 355 major!! mine was $8500 with tubi fitted and 430's dont have belts but i would say 360 major has got to be around 3-5k depending on year and mileage i guess

Get a new Corvette Z06. Cheaper to operate and a better overall machine.

Hell, you get a warranty with a Vette.

You can bump the HP up to 600 for less than a belt change on those, nice to look at, but very tempermental euro cars. Vette has better mpg as well...lol

better than a 10yr old 355 yes better than a 430?? dont think so, but still a cool looking car

the 430 and the '06 Z06 run just about the same numbers, but the Vette is oh about 3 times cheaper. The 430 does, of course, look more exotic and you will not see as many of them, so if that is what you are after, then the 430 would be the car. However, performance for the $$$ the Vette wins hands down.

I can drive the Vette 4000 miles (chicago to tucson and then back) with no problems (while getting 26+ mpg). I would be very worried about doing that in a 430

and I can get the oil changed at jiffy lube, for $80

The only way the vette is better is because it costs less. If money is no object then i would get the ferrari hands down. A ferrari is a ferrari. There is nothing else to say. Porsche vette lambo. Its just not the same. Even if they are faster i would rather have the ferrari. The new Z06 would kill a 355 but i would rather have the 355. The new 430 is amazing. I have never owned a ferrari. but have thought about it for a while. May get one soon. But when i was growing up my father had a dozen or so over the years. And i drove them all. Just amazing. My M5 and M3s are even faster than some of his ferraris were but the feeling is just different. You cant expain it you just have to drive one.

Definitely not about the money or outright performance. The Corvette Z06, either the C5 or C6, is tough to beat for out-of-the-box performance but Ferrari buyers are looking for a Ferrari, not just a fast sportscar.

I would say that the C6 is the best Corvette yet but it's just not my cup of tea.
