That's a beautiful watch... I really like dark faced watches... I have an $125 Tommy Hilfiger thing that I got in the Turks and Caicos... I made a huge mistake buying there. You can't set the date on it, because it's broken... It's stainless steel with a red face, so it looks nice even if it's non-functional.

You guys are crazy..  The Submariner and Airking are beautiful timepieces equal in all levels to the SSDaytona. The Daytona is just a little harder to come by. I would be grinning ear to ear with either of those and surely not calling them a beginners or starter model.. But I do appreciate the compliment.  To everyone else, thanks for the great wishes... CJ, CJ, CJ,  you are too funny man.. Buying a broken watch in the islands.. If I were Homer I'd say "dolp !"For the record though, the islands are usually a great place to pick up watches at good price. In my opinion, here is where you went wrong. There are two different types of manufactures watches, style watches and timepieces. Tommy Hillfiger makes great bathing suits, I don't know much about their watch manufacturing. Here is my suggestion to you. When you are ready to buy a new watch, don't go with a designer name like Tommy Hilfiger or Polo or BMW or someother company that also makes shoes.. Go for a timepiece. That $125 could have bought you a really nice Casio G-Shock.. Amazing watches for rock bottom prices. But if you want to have something a little fancy, here is my list of recommendations when you are ready to make a investment of $750 or above. Tag Hauer makes great watches and reasonibly priced. Breitling does too. Omega is another very good time piece. These watches you will keep for the rest of your life and maybe one day hand down to your children. One last thought. There are also two different types of movements you can get, AUTOMATIC (which winds from the movement of your wrist.) or QUARTZ (battery operated.) Quartz watches are much more durable if you are hard on your watches but are not as readily considered "TIMEPIECES" and they don't retain their value as well. AUTOMATIC watches are more delicate but considered "more desierable" timepieces. Automatics cost more money. You can sometimes buy the same watch in both AUTOMATIC and QUARTZ, the price will reflect the movement. Hope this helps for your future purchases.. Best, B
