It's a lot easier to glance over at a moving/live map than to read a piece of paper from mapquest when you're trying to drive.

I use my 2610 a lot, especially since i just moved to a new state and don't know my way around that much yet.

I also take it with me on trips, especially my yearly "get in the car and just start driving" week long vaction, it gives you the confidence to just go and not worry about getting completely lost.

So in answer to your question, yes, they're better than mapquest, and once you start using 1, you use it a lot.

Totally agreee. Also, you have a firm ETA with nav, no guessing on when you arrive. No crabbing with the co-pilot, eiher.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I really like the Tom Tom but that Nuvi is worth waiting for so I think I'm going to hang back and see what Costco sells it for. It seems that Costco has been picking up some almost-out-of-date products lately as the Nuvi 350 is going to be topped by the 360 with built in BT. On a side note, Costco has been getting buttloads of Apple iMac G5's and Mac Minis all without the Intel chips.

I noticed that too. I'm hoping that they took it off only until the promo starts because they have a coupon deal on the Magellan 760 right now and they probably want to push that one first, then the Nuvi.

One of the big draws of the Nuvi is the unvbelievably small form factor. It is somthing that you can slip in your shirt pocket and then it's on your windshield isn't hanging there like a brick. It also makes it a convenient GPS for when you're on foot in an unfamiliar city. One of the software features of the Nuvi that is appealing is the use of street names rather than just telling you to turn in 100 feet.

The Magellans are pretty good but they just seem so big and clunky to me. I guess I'm taken with how slick the Nuvi is.

I apologize if i missed the follow up to this thread but............... which portable nav did you end up with?......... I see the Nuvi 360 for $550 at Costco now......... I'm trying to find a decent small nav in the under $600 range....
