My wife, a big Hello Kitty fan, has a TomTom. The graphics are way better than those on my E53, and you get to have an English, French, Russian, Australian, or American girl speak to you. You can also sit at home, plug in the route, and watch the whole route in fast-motion.

I used my coworkers TomTom when I was in Boston and it was awesome.

I got a Garmin I5 at Christmas. It is an excellent GPS, small but very clear screen. I installed it in the X5 with no visible wire and it turns on and off automatically with the ignition. It is right in your price range. The I5 has the entire USA plus Canada already installed.
The Garmin Nuvi is the best GPS on the market right now IMO but it is pricey |
