another watch question
Is 18K white gold durable enough to be worn as an everyday watch or is stainless steel a better way to go?

I would go with this

Titanium the metal of future. Light weight and durable. Save your money so you can get a BMW. So many watches are all about status not better design, best example is a Rolex. |

Don't think its the same

No other SUV drives like my X5. Much better than a Chevy. On the other hand a Rolex does not keep as good time as most Quartz watches. The Rolex is all about Status and not much else. If I had to get a over priced watch would probally go with a Breitling. |

So you draw the line at making over priced purchases with watches? but with cars, it's completely justified? I see ![]() So much for this thread.... I'll make a few calls ...

Every Day Watch
I would think that a steel watch is better for every day.
The titatum watch I listed is a much better every day watch. I would think that a Gold watch is more of a dress-up dinner watch. Still think that you get more than status with a BMW, Gresch does your Chevy drive as nice? Last edited by E61Silver; 03-26-2006 at 02:01 PM. |

I would probably stay away from 18K gold for an "everyday" watch, however, I guess it depends on how you define "everyday" and how fussy you are. Do you mean get up in the morning, take a shower, put your watch on, and off you go to work? Or do you mean that you truely wear it everyday - like when you go to the beach, golfing, health club, coaching the kids LL team, playing frisbee with the dog, etc?
I have an 18K gold and stainless watch that I use for the above, and it has collected some scratches. However, to me it is not that big of a deal, so it doesn't bother me. Last edited by 5Xwen; 03-26-2006 at 01:57 PM. |
