I crashed today...
I was driving back to Colorado from my grandfathers funeral in Los Angeles. It was supposed to be a 13 hour drive; I was about an hour and a half away from home. There were 4 of us taking turns driving. I took the wheel at 7:30 and was going to finish the long trip off.
One of my wheels got caught in some slush and it pulled my right into the left girdor. I was traveling at about 40-45 mph. I tried to get off the wall and spun the car right and I was heading straight off the mountain. Luckily the right girdor was a metal fence of some sort. As soon as my car hit the right girdor I started spinning out and the car wouldn't stop. There was no cars by me at the time. My car started going backwards on the highway; when I looked up and saw two cars coming straight at me while my car was still spinning out. One was a Lexus RX and it was able to avoid me. The other was a Dodge Ram truck and it hit the rear left side of the car.
Good news is that no one got hurt. The airbags didn't deploy. I'm pretty much in shock of what happened in a blink of an eye. We all had our seatbelts on and everyone walked away from the accident. I did get a ticket for carless driving since I loss control of the vehicle. I haven't talked to my insurance agent yet.
I just wanted to remind everyone here to buckle up. I'm really lucky to be alive right now. I really thought I was going to fly off the mountain. Then I was basically helpless when the cars were coming right at me. I really can't get this out of my mind and iI have been thinking about it over and over again all day. I'm real glad that no one was hurt. I feel so guilty to put my family in that situation as well as myself. I wasn't tired or anything because I had plenty of sleep. I had only driven for an hour and a half when it happened.
Drive safe everyone!!! Take care.
