carfax question..

I heard that reports if a vehicle has been involved in an accident does not come out on carfax until 6 months after the accident has been filed/reported. This true?

I think it's more like 60 days. If it was a 6 month lag time then carfax info would essentially be useless.

Also note that not all accidents are reported to Carfax. In other words just because Carfax doesn't show any accidents doesn't guaranty that the vehicle has been accident free.

Usually the only time an accident shows up on carfax is if it has been claimed by the insurance company, outside settlements would not be listed. Same goes for Hail/flood/grey market, etc...
