You should drive over to Durham and go eat at Bullock's Barbecue. Then nearby Chapel Hill to walk down Franklin St. and window-shop, maybe have a drink or two if that's your style.

Far as downtown Raleigh, I don't know much about it, but pm alpac, cause he lives there now.

Yep, Orville & Wilbur flew that plane at Kitty Hawk, on the Outer Banks of NC. It's not so close to Raleigh, but there is a Memorial there.

I can remember going to some Museums in Raleigh years ago- NC Museum of History, Art, Science, etc. I'm honestly much more familiar with Durham and Chapel Hill, both of which are well within an hour of Raleigh.

If you get a chance to catch a Durham Bulls game- I'd highly recommend it!
