Definitely a moving picture. There were two other photos that I found to be very profound - The First Place picture by the same photographer, Todd Heisler, and the Award of Excellence photo by Joao Silva, both stories captured in a single image.

I agree, waste of people, money and resources, very sad
where the hell did Juan say that?

give me a break.

If it wasn't for that angel in the coffin, and many more like him (or her), now or before (Vietnam, Iraq I, WWII, WWI, Korea, Civil War [both sides], American Revolution) you wouldn't have the freedom you have to type that on your keyboard.

don't EVEN get me started.

God Bless her and him, and everyone who has served, is serving, and has died or is dying for the right for you to post here and me to slap you upside the head.

Drex and I don't normally agree on many things Politics, but I'm with him on this one. My posting that pic was NOT intended as a political statement for or against the war. To me, that picture was about devotion for one's spouse, and the lengths to which we go for our loved ones. No more, no less. As I stated on my first post, I simply found the picture very touching... If I may ask, let's keep politics out of this one.

Juan

Juan, you are exactly spot on the mark.

The photos should be viewed as depicting the love of family, and love for country. Politics and hatred have no part in this.

right...actually the gist of the whole artilcle is how a Sergent that is reponsible for the coordination of the notification of kin has gone far beyond protocol in his handling of the families, the pic is related to the notification of a young pregnant wife, she was so distraught that she wanted to spend one more night with him before he was buried. The Marines pictured volunteered to stay and rotated post all night until the ceromony in the morning. That is what we are about! That is what makes us different! That is what put me in a foxhole 15 years ago! The full faith that my brothers in arms would understand what is the right thing to do. That is why this article got to me so much...it is easy to say the right thing, but few people do the right thing.
