I can remember going to some Museums in Raleigh years ago- NC Museum of History, Art, Science, etc. I'm honestly much more familiar with Durham and Chapel Hill, both of which are well within an hour of Raleigh. If you get a chance to catch a Durham Bulls game- I'd highly recommend it! JV

You prob.won't have time, but 4 hrs west of R-D, is our Mtns in HillbillyHeaven...door's always open at the good food/exc bev free Motel on the Mtn! I agree with R8DX5: J & L's estate is worth the trip to see. OutfreakinStanding! And, they are great people. BR,md
