As soon as I got to the dealer this morning, my SA looked in to check the mileage and was like "whoa!" when he saw all of the dead pixels. He suggested I call BMWNA as soon as they open about the dead pixels because of a class action lawsuit going on right now. He said if I talk about how much I love the car, etc etc etc, they will cover the price of the part ($900.00+) even if the warranty is expired. He said they have done hundreds already. I called BMWNA at 9:00 and gave them my story. They dude on the phone said I'll hear from someone in 3-5 days. I called my SA back and he said, "I'll take care of it." Got a call from BMWNA about 10 minutes later saying they would replace it for me. So fast forward about 9 hours and I'm driving home from the dealership. I look at my gauges and this time I noticed something was missing...something MAJOR! I called my SA and told him that I want my rings back. I had to explain to him what they are and he said he'd go get them for me.
Now I'm REALLY bummed that I can't be there! I'd feel better if you all have a toast in my honor though - at least I'll know you guys were thinking of me! Glad to hear your dealer is getting your rings back for you - surprised! Enjoy DC!!!

Oh...by the way...

I had an '06 325i as my loaner. (I was so glad when I got my X back!) It was nice, though...I really like the "lane change" turn signal and the push-button start is cool. Oh, and the cup holders that come out of the dash, much better than the ones in the X.

Wait a sec- If that story was on someone's X5 seats, the verdict would've been unanimous!
Good deal they covered the new panel all things considered.

Sweet... sorry bout the nekkid look, but the info was great. I just gave BMWNA a call about the cluster in the old X5 to see if they can do anything. It's only been like this well over a year.

Guess what I found
A HUGE scratch on the liftgate. It was not there when I took it to the dealer. I had just washed it on Saturday, so I knew all of the scratches. It looks like the washer-dude had my rear wiper lifted up and the blade flipped around upside-down and fell back against the window and the tiny metal clip on the wiper blade scratched it. It's deeeeeeep.
