"The bill, which passed both the House and Senate with unanimous support last week, will ban disruptive demonstrations within 150 feet of any entrance or exit point to a national cemetery property unless the demonstration has received prior approval. It will also prohibit any demonstration, irrespective of its character, within 300 feet of national cemetery property that would impede access to the property. Violators will be subject to fines and up to a year in prison."

Not sure what this "does", or how 150 or, 300 feet has any effect on
the dead...we need more freakin laws in the US like we need holes in
our heads.

I think the emotion of the "respect thing" and the jump-on-the-bandwagon action by our elected "geniuses" is commendable, but don't they have anything else to get through the system, loaded with their parochial pork barrel bullshit?

Your free to type on X5World because of a lot of those "dead" in our national cemetaries! For the past 2 years I have managed an Honor Guard program in the Air Force that covered six states. It was very discerning when attempting to present the flag to the heart broken next of kin and you have yahoos voicing there opinion about the war in the background. I believe in freedom of expression/speech and every other freedom that we are afforded but how about a little respect. The young men and women who risk their lives deserve it. The Airman and Soldiers who have given the ultimate sacrifice, their lives, deserve it. Demonstrating at a national cemetary has to be one of the most ignorant things Ive ever heard of. I think one of the hardest speeches Ive every given is this one, "On behalf of the President of the United States, The Department of Defense, and a greatfull nation, this flag is offered for the honorable and faithful service performed by your loved one. Today our thoughts are with you". Try keeping a dry eye while looking at someones mom, dad, wife, husband, or children in the eye as they mourn their loss. The last thing they should here or see is banners/signs/etc with individuals presenting their frustrations. Yea, we may have a lot of laws already, and there are a lot of problems that need fixing in this great country of ours but I take "Honoring Those That Served" a priority....how about you?!?

There are laws against mutilating a corpse--does this impinge on your civil rights?

The dead, particularly the dead who have fallen on a battlefield, have a right to be buried in peace, and this law merely addresses a loophole whereby a group of religious kooks (the same ones who would criminalize your lifestyle) have taken it upon themselves to disrupt and humiliate those who are putting the remains of a loved one to rest. It has nothing to do with Bush. He did not sponsor the bill.

I agree the protesting is disgusting I just hope it doesn't have an "hidden" changes, make sense?

While I'm the first one to fight for the right of protesters, and I think it's BS how they keep protesters 3 and 4 blocks away from Bush, there is such a thing as having respect for the dead.

In this specific case, protesting in front of the families of dead soldiers is not going to accomplish anything except get some people very upset. Instead, go and protest in front of the politicians who sent them off to war. That may actually have an effect on policy decisions.

see that I agree with remember the crazy lady who protested with her family-only church a month back it was on here, shes the type of protestor who makes all protestors looks bad, but I am not afraid to say the following things

1-I dispise our president, I think hes a cruel, stupid, ignoral joke of a leader and has made us the laughing and hated stock of the world (anyone travled to europe lately?
2-I've protested but there are boundaries I morally keep
3-I absolutly, do not and i repeat DO NOT even 1% support to war in Iraq and am not afraid to say it to any politicians face I do however have 100% support for the men and women who are just doing their jobs
