New Car Time!

Ok so with such high gas prices and the Rover's near-80 fillups, I've decided it might be smart to purchase a more economical car for the to and from work stuff, it would be a 10k a year 24 month lease, under 250 per month

heres my test drives

-Mazda 3 2.3i Touring Edition Sedan msrp-23,050 (SO FUN TO DRIVE!)
-Jetta 2.5i Pkg 2-24,050 (Cute, Kinda Slow, but major reliability problems I have heard and Just have no time for a 2nd ONE )
-Ford Fusion SEL V6-Really Fast, Really Nice Interior, Totally Luxury for under 25 and cheap lease payment!

I'm leaning towards the Mazda-6 base Ford Fusion, especially with the 1k gas card AND special lease, any input?

My must havs!
-Side Curtian/chest thorax side airbags
-CD Player
-Good headlamps
-5 star crash test rating
-Good Visabiliy
-Some Luxury, not tons
-Good Fuel Economy!

so let's see.. let's do the math.. say you spend $320 a month on gas (fill up a week). you pay $250 a month for a lease payment with tax. You pay gas for that car (real miser. $60 a month). You pay say $50 a month for insurance. Does that come out to more than just driving the RR assuming the RR does go to shop again???

I'm with Josh...... the $$$$$ of buying a more economic car are incredibly hard to justify unless you are driving an astronomical amount of miles and are buying something with the mileage of a jetta diesel. why would you want to drive an inferior vehicle everyday over a few dollars in gasoline??? IMAO..... if you were so worried about gas prices you would have never bought a RR in the first place... my vote..... drive the RR or X5 and save yourself some money in other areas

Let's think about this - 2 drivers, 2 SUV's, a 335i on order, plus you're contemplating a 4th vehicle. Evidently money is not much of a deciding factor for you. If it makes you feel good, then do it.

Driving a Fusion would feel the same as driving a rental car. The only thing missing would be the Avis sticker on the rear bumper. The VW is okay, but why not get the GLI? Same with the Mazda - why not get the 3S? It's not like you can't afford it.

While we're at it, how's about a Mini Cooper S or a Civic SI? Or better yet, a Lotus Exige?

If gas consumption reduction is all you're really chasing, then get an electric car, a hybrid, or a Honda NGV.

we can't get a MINI cooper the way we want, their all sold out and want like 8k over sticker, and they were dicks so I walked out and here in san diego, we only have one mini dealer so no price competetion which sucks, as for the Fusion, I loved it, I think its a very nice car, I dare say the interior is MUCH nicer then the X3, as for the price, its a tax write off since its used for work, so its about 50 cents to the doller for me, so A 250 lease payment to me means 125.00 make sense?

be careful, if you tell your insurance company that the car will be used for work, your insurance rates will skyrocket and possibly offset any savings you might have realized from the write off. (yes i know that insurance rates are far cheaper in CA than the rest of the country, but you might want to check regardless)

I'm just happy we can buy as many as we can afford (and sometimes more! ).

When I lived in Japan, you could only own one car per licensed driver. What a crap law. I'm sure it had something to do with the SOFA (status of forces agreement) between the U.S. and Japan. What ev...
