The reason they cut the budget is because there is no more money to be made by large corporations on this stuff. When they raised the homeland security budget 5 years ago, their intention was not for it to be used to increase the number of police on the street or the number of security people. Their intention was to give contracts to a few large corporations for projects that could increase security. Those types of projects have all been completed and now that there is no more profit to be made from this, they have cut the budget. It has nothing to do with hating New York.

As far as the Dept. of Homeland Security, a few things you should know:

1) The forming of this Dept. was done BEFORE the 9/11 attacks. People were being hired as early as July 2001 to work for the Dept. of Homeland Security, and the plans were to publicly announce the idea in October 2001. The same thing for the Patriot Act as well -- it was written during the Summer of 2001.

2) If you speak to just about anyone who has worked in a leadership position in the intelligence community, they will tell you that the purpose of having multiple intelligence agencies (we have 16 in the United States) is so that you get different viewpoints and perspectives. What tying them alltogether is doing is eliminating that. Instead, the president is going to be given one perspective. But it appears that the current White House is not really interested in getting real intelligence perspectives anyway. It seems that they decide what they are going to do, and then they only want intel that can serve to support the position that they have already decided. So this new system allows them to squash any opposing viewpoints before the information even reaches the President. Then the President can not be held responsbile for ignoring intel like he was with regard the 9/11 intel and the whole Iraq war debate.

BLACK HELICOPTERS! BLACK HELICOPTERS!

Do you think the movie "MIB" was based in reality?

I do have to say his show is not bad, but he needed to do that because he needed to make money.
Yes, he did go bankrupt more than once. To make it big you frequently have to gamble big. Don't forget that he also earned it back...

9/11? Yup, I realize what happened. I was in Afghanistan, after all.

UN? Yup, I realize where its HQ is. Same for Lady Liberty, the Brooklyn Bridge, and Trump hizzelf.

So what? There's no where else that has historic/political monuments/areas? Give me a f'ing break. You-all have gotten TONS (that's TONNES for you Brits!) of money already. Spend it wisely, and if you need more, justify. And/or raise your state taxes.

Get over yourselves, and smell the mocha-choco latte.

Your opinion on this is so ridiculous that it's laughable. Have you ever even been to NYC?

(remember, it's all about expressing opinions, and sir, yours is assinine.)

Arnold is doing just fine - he made some rookie mistakes which was expected. The state is doing just fine with an inherited debt of $22 billion from Davis reduced by the Governator down to $6.5 billion. Keep in mind that Davis came in at a time California was booming economically, so what he did was induce an economic disaster.

I'll take Ahnold over Hillary any day. The point was more that uninformed voters cast their votes for reasons other than what they should be baseing their vote on. ( I am not referring to you)

No, just better than some. I'm sorry I don't agree with you 100%. Would it be a better world if I did? Or just more bland?

Thank you. Honestly.

I don't think my service makes me better, I just think it puts me in the minority of the current service-age population.

And if you've ever met any Marines, you'll know we don't suffer from humility!

That you've lumped me in with Eric is quite humorous! Thanks for the laugh!

Look, I know not everyone feels as I do. I also know that even those that do aren't willing to step up and publicly voice their opinion. Fine. I do, and am.

I don't really expect to change anyone's mind. I just can't stand people saying stupid things without anyone voicing a different opinion. Wouldn't want them to think they're unopposed, and right, would we?

Rebound,

You have every right not to agree with me or anyone else.

We are all Americans, even Eric I think, and we need to be treat each other with respect, even if we don't agree
