Hit a tree, got 530i loaner; flares still not finished
Hi everyone,
Just wanted to give you guys an update as to what I’ve been up to. 2 weeks ago, I dropped my daughter off for her swimming lessons, while backing out of the parking area with lots of trees, one tree popped out of nowhere and bang. Picture below. I know, I know, I should have been more careful, didn’t the PDC warn me, blah, blah. My bad. Anyway, I kind’a thought that since I’m going to claim the repairs I might as well get the 4.8 bumper and finish off the rear flares . So, I ordered the parts to finish off the flares and asked for a 4.8 rear bumper and I’ll pay the difference. The stealer said the repairs would take 7 – 10 working days. I was cool with that. A couple of days later, I get a phone call saying that it’ll take 2 weeks for the 4.8 bumper to arrive or 3 days for the 4.4 bumper. I went for the 4.4 bumper but still asked for the flares to be finished off. This Wednesday, I went in to pick up the X after driving a 530i loaner during this time. The X was fixed perfectly, practically impossible to tell there was body work done but they didn’t know how to put on the remaining flares saying that I have to get a 4.8 bumper to get the job done . I just didn’t have the energy to argue and said I’d come in next week with proof.I just wanted to put in a few words about the 530i I had for over a week and got to know the car quite well. A couple of months ago, I got a 645Ci for the weekend to drive. Now, that was a BLAST! I was a bit skeptical about the idrive but after driving the 530i for a week, I can say, I really like it. All in all, the 530i is a nice car but would never swap the X for the 5 er. I think the best thing about the 530i that you can’t get in an X5 is the Active steering. That’s it for now. Watch out for those trees
