finally back from cancun
sigh.. what can i say? it was way too short this time around. 8 days, 7 nights. last time, my wife and i went by ourselves, and it was way too long. this time, we took all 3 kids and my wife's parents (supposedly to help watch the kids, but no such helping happened...)
anyways, we stayed at the moon palace in cancun. we were told that it was one of the first resorts to re-open after last years multitude of hurricanes wiped out most of the hotel zone. the moon palace is 20 mins from the airport and at the very bottom of the hotel zone (if you are familiar with the area). the hotel zone is akin to the vegas strip with tons of hotels and other attractions... the moon palace is friggin huge. 2 lobbies each with 5 restaurants, a disco, and their own set of nightly entertainment and shows.. like 2 resorts next to each other. you have to take a bus to get from one to the other... we grab another presidential suite. this time, we were not able to book on the main resort as they were all sold out. we were placed in a pres suite on the golf course (reserved for golf members only, but we were lucky enough to get placed there). the golf area is comprise on 6 villas in the middle of the course (which is right next to the main resort). each villa has 2 floors. each floor has 2 pres suites in the center with 2 deluxe jacuzzi suites on the far wings. total of 24 pres suites and 24 single rooms, making it extra exclusive. here's a pic of our suite: ![]() and each villa has its own concierge and golf cart. the concierge will call a cart if you need to go anywhere (hence i was not allowed to do donuts and was driven like miss daisy) ![]() view of the front of the room: ![]() ![]() the golf villa pres suite is smaller then the pres suite found on the main resort (golf villa = 1200 sq ft or so, and the main resort is about 1500-1600 sq ft). both have a common living room, dining area, patio, master bed room, and 2nd bedroom. the 2nd bedroom has 2 full beds, while the master has a king. each bedroom has its own double jacuzzi tub and a marble shower. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() we can see golfers all day long from the patio. you can see how badly the hurricanes ripped apart the trees in the background... ![]() ![]() we even had our own pet iguana right next to the villa that we saw everyday ![]() right next to the villa is the club house/spa center (about 100 yards away). yes.. the girls spent a ton of time there... ![]() if you stay at any palace resort, you get tours included. but we mainly stayed at the pools and beaches since i had the little ones with me. my wife and i did the heavy tour thing last year so we skipped this year... all in all, it was a great trip and from the pics i would say the kids were extremely happy ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ps: although weather.com said there was isolated thunderstorms throughout my stay, it rained on us 3 times around 3 am for about 15 mins each... each day was PERFECT, sunny and clear...
