I haven't written a resume in a long time but I've read hundreds. Without knowing any details about your qualifications or the target positions here are some tips based on what I like to see when I evaluate a resume:

1) Don't waste the reader's time. Give a concise summary of why they should read the rest of the resume within the first half page. Sometimes this requires customizing a resume for each position but it's worth the effort.

2) Highlight your top skills. A long list of skills doesn't do anything for me. It doesn't tell me the amount of experience the candidate has with each skill. I've seen people list Web Development when all they've done is put up a web page for a friend or relative. I tend to skip reading a long list of skills altogether.

3) Two pages max, double sided. Information that requires more than 2 pages I want to hear from you in person during an interview.

4) The level of the position determines appropriate content. Education and training is appropriate for junior and intermediate positions. Work experience is always important but should be emphasized for more senior positions.

5) Provide a cover letter introducing yourself. If you know the name of the person that will be reading it then address that person rather than using a generic salutation. Make sure you spell the name of the person and company correctly! I've thrown out many resumes on that basis alone.

6) Research the target position. Research the company. Try to show that you know something about them in your cover letter or resume.

7) Spell check, grammar check, proof read. Then do it again.
