Why We Fight - Anyone seen it?

So, anyone seen this documentary? No, it isn't about soldiers. It pretty much leaves them out of the discussion. It is more an exploration of the US military-industrial complex, the influence of non-elected officials in the decision-making process, and some heartfelt pleas from US citizens about what they feel needs to change in future.

I enjoyed it. It nicely complements the McNamara story, Fog of War. Better done than Farenheit 9/11.

Interesting movie, and a change from the last two film posts. While those films may be entertaining, they probably didn't make the audience think as much as this one may.

I haven't seen it. But what I do know is that there is an "independent" committee in Washington called the "Defense Policy Board" that is supposed to advise the President and the Secretary of Defense on policy decisions. Richard Perle was the chairman of this board from 2001-2004 when the decision to invade Iraq was made.

What I find most interersting about this committee is that about two-thirds of its members are on the board of directors of at least one major military hardware manufacturer or are lobbyists for a major military hardware manufacturer.

Do you think it's a good idea when the people advising the President on war decisions are those who make a living from war?
