There was a time when I would see any movie with Samuel Jackson in it because I always liked his acting. I am now beginning to question his script review process. He must be hurting for $$ and needs to make the mortgage payment or something.

I was saying the same thing last night. He went from blockbusters to career busters. What happened?

I think the guy is having loads of fun doing whatever he wants to. I don't believe an actor always needs to satisfy somebodys version of a serious quality film with serious so called quality acting. Sometime actors like to get involved in slapstick just for the fun of it and that's exactly why it was included in his script review process. I believe he dosn't need the money and that's another reason for engaging in the unimportant. He did say the film is entertainment that's all. And don't think for a minute this is gonna hurt his reputation. He's gonna cash in big time because all these young folks who the film was designed for just got introduced to Samuel Jackson.

Given the choice between the intense preparation for a serious screen role versus playing golf with his homies, Samuel L. prefers the latter. I don't think he has any serious aspirations to win an Oscar or be Denzel's equal. Barry is correct; Samuel L. is simply having fun and he loves being offbeat. It's his nature. It's too bad - he's a marvelous actor, but how many great roles are there for middle-aged Afro-American actors?

I think Jamie Foxx will also follow this same path - he got his one and only Oscar. It's all downhill from this point on for him.

You may be right regarding any serious aspirations to win an Oscar he may have. But one thing is clear he is the highest grossing actor in box office history and the film credits are great. http://72.14.203.104/search?q=cache:...ient=firefox-a

Yeah...I heard he got this huge spread in AZ and was trying to retire there, but now he needs more mods for his X5 and his pad, thus needs more $$!

On a slightly side note ( ), you can use this website to have Samuel L. Jackson call your friends and family (of course, to go see the movie...).

Sam Call

Sam said he did it only cuz of the title and he is not interested in making movies that are critically acclaimed and that he is the type of movie fan that wants entertainment and thus that is how he chooses what type of projects that he does.

I have two free passes and will be seeing it today with my girl, I have already told her that if the theather is empty thier maybe more than just 'Snakes on a Plane"...more like "Sex at the Movies"...she did not say no...so I am optimystic!

I saw the movie and it was loads of fun!!!

I think it says a lot about Sam to do all sorts of movies, not for the acclaim but for the entertainment value. And this movie was entertaining. No dull moments, but instead a story that brought you in from the start. No, the movie does not have the most realistic story line, but neither does pirates nor a lot of other of this years 'hits'. You'll enjoy this movie if you see it, just don't try to critiuque the realism.

Oh, BTW Sam doesen't need the money and turns down most of the films he is offered. He's one of the most difficult actors to predict what roles he will and won't take. Many times when he's offered one role, he agrees to do the movie only if he can use be a different role that was never intended for him. He's just a great actor who makes some 'interesting' decisions.
