Help me sell my mom on a new car..

I asked my mom today when I could get a new car. She says not until graduation, about 9 months away. My car already has 102,500 miles. She says the only way I can get something sooner is if major things start breaking and we have to pay a lot of money to fix it. My parents are people who keep their cars until the wheels fall off, because to them a car is just transportation. Any ideas on how I can convince her to let me go from a 2003 330xi with 102,500 miles to a new 2006 330xi? The first thing I've thought of was the trade-in value of my E46... When she talks about getting a new car, she assumes we'll get about $10,000 for the car I have now. According to KBB.com, the car is only worth $14,540 right now. By the time I got a new car, I'd have a ton more miles and it wouldn't be worth that much. Any ideas?

CJ, Suck it up for another 9 months and another 35K miles, ...

I wonder why your 'Rents haven't ever questioned you about your
"car service" you run, with all those miles.

You'll live...and, if you keep driving the thousand+ per week, something
is bound to break.

I admit, it is in great mechanical condition. But I'd still rather not have something big break on me while I'm out in the middle of nowhere, with no cell phone service.

Dude seriously... she is giving it to you for free...

Wait the 9 months out. I'm presuming she bought you the last one...

Three year old BMW at your age is a pretty good deal CJ. You'll appreciate it alot more if you have to wait for it.

Sorry you're not getting the response you wanted

I don't mind these responses. I know you guys are right.. And I definitely know I'll love the car more if I have to wait for it! I've just gotten so excited about it lately that I can't stand it! I want you all to know that even though I may seem like a spoiled brat for writing a post like this, I really do appreciate how lucky I am to have such a nice car. Many people could work their whole lives and not be able to afford such a nice car, and I had one given to me. My mother came from a middle class family, but my father grew up in real poverty. He couldn't even afford to go to college. I know how hard they had to work to be able to provide something like this for me. The reason I want a new E90 now is not because I'm unsatisfied with my car.. I love my car to death. I'm just so excited at the idea of getting a new car that its so hard to wait! I know you're all right about this though. As hard as it is waiting for it, I'll love it that much more. My mom has also set the condition that to get it at all, let alone new and with the options I want, I have to do well in school this year. I think that's very reasonable.. If I make honor roll all 4 quarters, she said I'll be able to get most of the options I want. If I get the car at the end of that time, I'll enjoy it so much more because I'll know I worked to earn it. (And yes, I know how ridiculous it must seem to be getting a $47,000 car as a reward for doing well in school, but.. yeah). My mom says that it's not just a reward for this year.. She says she only feels justified spending that much on a car for me because of all I've been through. Not to get into too many details, but over the past 4 years I've had a lot of problems. I've battled severe depression and I had a big drug problem for a while. I had a great deal of turmoil inside me over the issue of my homosexuality. I hated myself so much for it that one night in November, I took 47 sleeping pills, hoping I wouldn't wake up. I spent the night in the hospital on suicide watch. Since then, I've come out. I've found an amazing boyfriend, luckily one who shares my passion for cars. I've kicked the drugs, and these days I can say I'm truly happy for the first time in my whole life. These things may seem like dumb, adolescent problems to you guys, but let me tell you.. My family and I went through hell over these things. I came out on top, though, and my mom says that she thinks after all that, I deserve it. I know I seem like a spoiled brat, and you're all allowed to hold whatever opinion you want on that. But I honestly don't think I'm as spoiled as I may appear.
Sorry for the long post!
