The 2001 BMW M Roadster received the dubious honor of being listed as the most stolen vehicle of 2005, according to the most recent stolen vehicle report from CCC Information Services Inc. (CCC). CCC is a technology provider to the automotive claims and repair industry.

Which is exactly the reason it won. Up to this year, the stats were based on total number stolen. So, the Camry, Accord, and Chrysler mini-vans came out on top due to their population.

This year they changed the measure to probability, which factors in the number originally sold.

The title is actually "the most likely to be stolen", not the "most stolen"

I read the article too. Thanks for the corrections. According to the article, dragsters, right term I hope, love to chop those parts as their engines fall apart because of over-tuning obviously.
