Range Rover owners please chime in

Friend of mine is considering a 2006 RR HSE for his wife. Nearest dealer is 75 miles away. She currently drives a 2005 RR LR3, likes it, no issues, very pleased with the car which they own outright. He has an aging Denali and wants the diesel E series Benz.

I am suggesting that he lease a 2006 RR HSE rather than buy, as in three years time it will be at the end of its body style run and gas will likely be $100bbl. I say trade the LR3 on the diesel Benz, and pay as little down as possible on the RR HSE lease. Fully optioned, they are getting a $1400 36/15K number. I doubt high-mileage Denalis bring much in trade, so stick that in Autotrader. Suggestions? I know someone here is very happy with their 2003 RR, but how good are the post-BMW RRs?
