I'm just going to take a guess and say that the TVs that those stands were made for are probably no longer being sold.

Also the demand for TV stands is dropping sharply as the plasmas and LCD are getting cheaper.

Speaking of Sony,NoBaloney...

CC has the 60" SXRD LCoS slim proj. TV for $3700...
down from 4 and change when they first came out.

I love ours, in our FL Starter Joint.

I realize some of the net joints are even cheaper,
but that price is very good for a B&M place as
opposed to a storefront/boiler room "seller".

You mean like B&H photo & video in NYC? Guilty as charged- I buy from them if it's anything but a large TV.

Can't believe how much the SXRD you got has come down seeing as how it's still "titz".

I want a flat screen hdtv plasma or whatever so i can play my PS2, soon to be PS3, with an awesome picture I don't even care if I need a stand for it since there's no ideal place for a wall mounted one in my apt

BigJV:

B&H and a few others are very legit, in my experience...the "net boyz",
working out of a house in Brooklyn, with three or four "companies" under
the same roof/boiler room, are the real prob. imo. I learned my lesson
there.

That 60" SonyNoBaloney still gets some great raves and I look forward
to watching it again when we get back to FLA...I cannot talk theCEO
into replicating it here, yet. Would take some dough and a new DISH Sat deal and more fookin dough and what to do with a decent, 5 yr old
57" proj Toshiba? And, we aren't exactly TV addicts here.

Here's a very intreresting link, done by a consumer vigilante on the
boiler room rip off stereo/photo joints we see advertising all the time:
