on the road again

The closing for my SC townhouse is 8/17. I tried to get it pushed off until late Sept (since they had already pushed it back from May). No luck at trying to arrange a cooler time frame. Oh, well... Leaving on Sun am with the '06 X5. But 1st it gets front window tinting on Fri (already has RCP). P/u trailer and pack on Sat.

Only thing is..., I think the front grading and road are higher than my garage and front porch. This is going to be tested later today by my sister and my realtor. If water runs from the road and yard toward the townhouse, what are my options? The very last thing I want is a lake in my garage. Which could happen since 4"/hr rainfall is not unheard of in SC. Any thoughts?

signed, an anxious first time home buyer

Without seeing the exact scenario, my thoughts are you could use some berming to channel or redirect any heavy water away from or around the house. Good luck with that, and with the move as well.

Post some pics when you get a chance, I'd love to see the new abode.

Jeff

Thank you all - I now have a combined total of 16.5 months of BMW X5 ownership (12.5 on the '01 and 4.0 on the '06) = combined travel is 33,000 miles (20K on the '01 and 13K on the '06, with another 4K scheduled for the next 16 days) - I already purchased the extended warrantees for service and maintenance (~$3000 + ~$1200) - Hopefully this is the last X-country trip for the '06, which is supposed to stay in SC

13K on the '06 and I still have 2 green bars before it wants an oil change - someone was bragging about an 18K oil change - looks like mine will be over 20K - Actually, I did one already at 9,500 - good thing I love driving - but never before as much as with my X5s - This I can equate to my Navy flying - God, that was a blast!

Will post pics by end of next week - inspection evidently went well - none of my worries proved out - it comes with a 2yr builder's warranty and they stated they will do anything to make me happy (definitely a buyer's market now) - 1600 sqft, 3 bdrm, 2.5 bath, garage, very open layout, screened-in back porch, a LOT of closet space, loft area overlooking LR/Dining area, a LOT of kitchen counter space and cabinet storage - it's the center unit, which should keep heating/cooling bills reasonable - All my living space is on the main floor, while visitors can have their own privacy upstairs with 2 bedrooms and a full bath - Frankly, it was just what I was looking for with 5-lane hwys for quick access to I26, and rtes alt 17 & 52 (I95)- that avoids bumper-to-bumper 2 lane traffic typ south & west of Charleston - I tried to remember everything others have said about their homes, to avoid problems (A wise person learns from other's mistakes ) - On the road, again
