Interesting comments.
My wife flies home (domestic Canadian flight) tomorrow. All of today's flights here are late due to stepped-up security, so she will likely be as well. She only has carry-on, but no longer, all of it now goes in the hold. My daughter flies to Heathrow on Saturday. Just the stress she needs, her first solo international trip. I don't think any of it was made up. I am also not particularly worried about flying, for myself or my family. But the additional delays and hassle are real, no matter the rest.

Exactly. Not only the additional delays and hassle but now the thieves are gonna have a field day digging thru luggage, and what's left of it will not be there when you arrive.

well humans are not consistent but the procedures should be training should be its just really sad that you go to 2 different agents and you get different info from both now if thats a security check point who knows. also i think hiring the same people we are watching out for to work as tsa agents is silly. and who ever said this is a hoax of scotland yard might be a bit too quick on the trigger to make such an accusation

i agree but can you really blame them after what happened in London? and even if it is a hoax and there is no threat i think better safe than sorry, if the passengers are delayed or inconvenienced and there was never a threat then oh well and if there was then they should be thankful. dont get me wrong police cars standing on the brooklyn bridge are obnoxious but the fact that they are there for something in case anything happens is the point.
